The Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig (MdbK) is one of Germany's largest municipal art museums. Founded in 1848 through civic engagement, its collection encompasses works primarily from European art history spanning eight centuries: over 5,000 photographs and media works, approximately 4,600 paintings, over 70,000 works on paper, and around 1,800 sculptures, reliefs, and installations. The MdbK is an authentic space for sensory experiences. Artworks foster discourse, interaction, and education. With its open architecture and free admission to its permanent exhibition, the museum offers a diverse society the opportunity to encounter one another, take time for reflection, and share (new) knowledge. Participatory programs, events, and exhibitions are fundamental to this welcoming institution. The MdbK positions itself as an inclusive, accessible, and anti-discriminatory museum.
