Educational and Meeting Centre for Jewish History and Culture Saxony
Die Bildungs- und Begegnungsstätte für jüdische Geschichte und Kultur Sachsen e.V. ist seit ihrer Gründung im September 1992 dem Anliegen verpflichtet, über jüdische Geschichte und Kultur in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart in großer Breite zu informieren. Vorausgegangen waren der Eröffnung über zwei Jahre intensiver ehrenamtlicher Aufbauarbeit. Danach konnten die wiederhergestellten Räume im Erdgeschoß des Genossenschaftshauses Pulsnitzer Str. 10 in Dresden der öffentlichen Nutzung übergeben werden.
Seitdem entwickelte sich HATiKVA e.V. zu einer weit über die Stadtgrenzen von Dresden hinaus wirkenden Bildungs- und Kultureinrichtung, die in ihrer thematischen Spezifik, in ihrer Angebotsbreite aber insbesondere im Schwerpunktbereich außerschulischer Jugendbildung, im Freistaat Sachsen bisher einmalig ist.
Since its foundation in September 1992, the Saxony Educational and Meeting Centre for Jewish History and Culture has been committed to providing a wide range of information about Jewish history and culture in the past and present. The opening was preceded by more than two years of intensive voluntary development work. The restored rooms on the ground floor of the Pulsnitzer Str. 10 co-operative building in Dresden were then handed over for public use.
Since then, HATiKVA e.V. has developed into an educational and cultural institution that has an impact far beyond the city limits of Dresden and is unique in the Free State of Saxony in terms of its thematic specificity and the range of its offerings, especially in the area of extracurricular youth education.
