Days of Jewish Culture in Chemnitz

TdjK 2026 Design
35. TdjKEvgeniiy Potievsky

The “Days of Jewish Culture” in Chemnitz hold significant cultural and social importance in the city’s cultural calendar. Building on a number of earlier initiatives, the “Days of Jewish Culture” (TdjK) have been held annually as a festival since 1992. This makes them one of the oldest festivals of their kind in Saxony and beyond.

A defining feature of Chemnitz is the creative collaboration between a wide variety of partners in the city – including cultural institutions, cultural associations, community groups, educational bodies, church organisations and the Jewish community itself – in organising the festival. The partners contribute in terms of content, organisation, personnel and funding. This format is remarkable as it opens up a wide range of content and thematic diversity in relation to the respective focal points. It brings together individual social actors into a highly visible force, and has done so since 1992!
