In 1933, Jewish actress Lilly Hollmann and her colleague Gregor Maurer start a family. However, Lilly is soon no longer allowed to perform due to her background. Meanwhile, her husband was making a career as an actor and was pressurised by the National Socialists to divorce his wife. But he refuses, not wanting to expose his family to persecution.
In his long-forgotten novella "Es wird schon nicht so schlimm!", author, director and theatre director Hans Schweikart tells this story, which is based on the true case of the actor couple Meta and Joachim Gottschalk. Schweikart's story is at the centre of the evening with actress Christine Sommer and the well-known Tatort detective Martin Brambach. In their staged reading, they provide insights into the period of socio-political change, the effects of which many initially underestimated because it was inconceivable that one day they would no longer be able to speak and act freely.
