Anatevka (Fiddler on the Roof)
Musical by Jerry Bock
Gewandhaus Zwickau
Neuberinplatz -
08056 Zwickau
In the small shtetl of Anatevka, the Jewish milkman Tevye tries to guide his family through difficult times with tradition and faith. While his daughters have their own ideas about love and marriage, Tevye must come to terms with the fact that the world is changing – and with it, his values. But the greatest threat comes from outside: pogroms and expulsion destroy the villagers' familiar way of life.
The nine-time Tony Award-winning musical "Anatevka" combines moving stories, Yiddish humor, and unforgettable melodies like "If I Were a Rich Man." In an atmospheric production with a klezmer band, the Plauen-Zwickau Theatre brings this classic to the stage with a fresh take on humanity, dance, and music – touchingly relevant and deeply moving.
