Drawing on the ‘Jewish Scholars’ portrait gallery on the first floor of the Dubnow Institute, Dr Nicolas Berg, Head of the ‘Knowledge’ research department, will introduce key figures in Jewish historiography and explore how they continue to shape the Institute’s research profile to this day.

The Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture - Simon Dubnow (DI), based in Leipzig, conducts interdisciplinary and cross-epochal research into Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe from modern times to the present day. The research work takes a pan-European perspective and includes the areas of Jewish emigration, in particular Israel as well as North and Latin America.
